It
is located 11 km away from the city. We will be able to appreciate
lakes, lagoons and rivers within its limits, and their exit towards
Beagle Channel, characteristic that makes the difference with the
other national parks of our country.
Departing from the Maipu Avenue towards the southwest by the national
route nro. 3, we will drive out of the city passing by the slope
of the Susana Mount, witness of the work of the priosners of the
old prison, where now the Southern Fuegian Railway is located. Here
we will stop for this optional tour.
Continuing through the valley to the deviation that take us to the
Ensenada Bay, where we will be able to contemplate the Redonda and
Estorbo Islands and on the other coast of the Channel of Beagle,
the snow-white Mountains of the Sampaio Chain (Chile). Back again
on the national route #3 with the fuegian forest and its flora close
to the road we will go to the Roca Lake to do a long walk by the
lake coast and by the Lapataia river, originated in the lake. From
this point we can see the Cóndor Hill natural border with Chile.
We will go towards the other end of the Park, where finalizes the
route nro. 3 at Lapataia Bay, on the way to the mentioned bay we
will observe the Green Lagoon and the Black Lagoon, large growing
peat bog. Finally we will pass by the beaver dams, whose footpath
will lead to Lapataia Bay. |

Deaprting
from Ushuaia and again on the National route #3 (Pan-American) towards
the north of the island, to reach the Fuegian Andes through valleys
covered by peat bogs.
We will cross the Carbajal, the Huskies, Tierra Mayor and Las Cotorras
valleys, where it is possible, during the winter to practice the
croos-country ski style. The next point of the tour will be the
Garibaldi Pass (450 mts over the sea level), which we will use cross
the Mountain range of the Andes, with the beautiful view of the
Lakes Escondido and Fagnano. From here we will start the way down
to the other side of the Andes and will stop at Petrel "hosteria"
besides the Escondido Lake, after a short stop will continue to
the sawmills area, specifically to the Martinez sawmill ( out of
operation this days ), at the coast of Fagnano lake and after visiting
the Fagnano lake we will go back to Las Cotorras valley to taste
the typical fueguian lamb barbecue. |

Ushuaia,
capital of Tierra del Fuego, is located at the coast of the Beagle
Channel surrounded by Le Martial Mountainsntains that offers this
unique combination of mountains, sea, glaciers and forest in Argentina.
Departing from Maipú avenue, towards the Footbridge Luis Pedro Fique,
we will cross this narrow pas that ends at La Mission Neiboghood,
area chosen by the first white men settled down in Ushuaia. Other
districts to visit will be the Brown and Solier, built by the first
inmmigrants at the beggining of the 20th century. During the tour
we will be able to observe old houses pertaining to the first fuegian
families like Bebans, Pastorizas, Cangas, Fiques, Salomons, Ramos
and the Provincial Legislature, old Government's house. Also we
will be able to observe the contrast of the incredible growth produced
by the arrival of new settlers during the 80's. In our journey we
will include the transfer to the base of the chairlift at the Le
Martial glacier that will allow us to enjoy from the height, as
we move away of the city, the gorgeous landscape. If the climatic
conditions allow it a long walk in the zone of the base of the chairlift
will be able to be done.
Our return will be through the Leandro N. Alem avenue, and will
continue at the Maritim Museum and Old Prison of Ushuaia, after
a brief visit we will go to the End of the World Museum, where part
of the fueguian past is apexhibited. |

It
is the oldest Estancia in of Tierra del Fuego, located towards the
east and 90km away from our city. These earth were yielded by the
government of President Roca to priest Thomas Bridges, because of
his contribution to the knowledge of the zone and its coexistence
with the natives of the place.
Departing from Ushuaia, towards the North by the Nac Route # 3,
driving alongside of Olivia Mount, which is really close to the
road. Continuing by Carbajal Valley, that is the largest peat bog
in the Island, the winter centers of the Altos del Valle, Valle
de los Huskies, Nunatak Refuge, Tierra Mayor, Las Cotorras and Cerro
Castor before reaching the Rancho Hambre point where we take the
auxiliary road " J ".
The tour start to cross valleys, towards the east, where we will
observe more peat bogs, rivers and lagoons, in addition to an exquisite
vegetation. The route appears narrows, with a lot of bends and great
slopes, we reach Puerto Almanza after driving for 30 kms and an
amazing view appears suddenly, we will enjoy a beautiful landscape,
deep blue water of the Beagle Channel and Williams Port on the other
side of channel, Navarino island ( Chile )
Continuing we take a new deviation to the east. The valley covered
with vegetation it is transformed into almost a classical "pampa"
( flat large extension of land ) rolling field where some flag trees
show up, receiving this name because the way its branches grow as
the result of the strong winds they daily receive. We will cross
some rivers; other rivers had dissapeared because of the work the
beavers done.
We finally arrive to the Estancia. The main house is located in
a protected bay. Its buildings area, conserved like long ago, is
constructed of wood and covered with zinc; the excellent garden
with most of the fuegian flora species is waiting to be visited
and we will be guided through, with a brief explanation about of
it and the activities done in the Estancia.
After this visit, we can taste a tea with cakes done in the Estancia.
After the snack we will return to Ushuaia. |

Train
of the End of the World
|

At
the Pipo River´s valley, we can find the Sothern Fuegian Railway
Station, after a brief visit of its buildings we will start the
train tour that will take us visiting part of the old railway used
by the prisoners of the Old Prison. We will cross bridges and peat
bogs and we will stop at the Macarena Cascade. After a small description
of the zone that we visited we will continue our trip, entering
the National Park Tierra del Fuego, towards where the old Lombardich
sawmill and to the end of the railway we meet the National route
#3 ending our train tour. |
