Early in the morning, we’ll pick you up from your hotel in El Calafate to begin our adventure.
We’ll travel the 200 kilometers to El Chaltén, a picturesque mountain town also known as the National Trekking Capital. Halfway there, we’ll stop for about 15 minutes to stretch our legs and use the restrooms at the historic Parador La Leona.
Around mid-morning, we will arrive in El Chaltén. Upon arrival, we will visit the National Parks Administration’s interpretation center (the town is located within the boundaries of Los Glaciares National Park). From this point, we will begin the first hike, approximately 1.5 hours long (round trip), along the Mirador de los Cóndores Circuit. This hike is ideal for observing condors soaring over the valley and for incredible views of Mount Fitz Roy and El Chaltén. While the hike is not very demanding, it is important to keep in mind that it takes place in a rugged area and has a gentle upward slope all the way to the Mirador.
On the way back, we’ll stop at a restaurant to refuel with a delicious lunch, and then visit Chorrillo del Salto for our last hike of the day, where we’ll admire a 20-meter-high waterfall.
Finally, we’ll have about 30 minutes to explore the town before meeting up with the rest of the group to begin the return trip to El Calafate.
